Singapore/Malaysia-based microbrand RZE has carved out a nice little niche for itself in the crowded affordable watch space with its focus on approachable titanium tool watches, all of which boast the brand’s proprietary UltraHex anti-scratch coating.

The brand’s first model, the Resolute, debuted back in 2020 during the brief period when the brand called itself Reiss. And while the Reiss name was replaced by RZE long ago, the Resolute remains in the brand’s catalog as its flagship field watch and as a perfect representation of what the brand does so well: make tough tool watches that are affordable and stylish.

Now, RZE has expanded its Resolute line with a new offering in 36mm. But this isn’t just a shrunken-down version of the 40mm field watch; it features a more elevated design that’s meant to be worn in a wider variety of situations.

The Resolute 36 keeps the bigger Resolute’s signature angular case design, but it now features a bit of polish around the bezel and is thinner than ever, clocking in at just 9.5mm thick. That’s 1mm thinner than the 40mm version, and decidedly svelte for what is ostensibly a field watch, making the 36mm version almost dressy. It’s also the lightest watch RZE has ever produced at, get this, 36 grams (or 90 on the bracelet).

Further helping in the dressy regard is the completely redesigned dial. While the original Resolute features a large triangle index at 12:00 and large bar indices elsewhere, all heavily filled with Super-LumiNova, the 36 goes in a different direction.
