Samsung just introduced an entirely new type of smartphone. The Galaxy Fold is the company’s first-ever foldable smartphone. When folded, it has a 4.6-inch display. But when opened up, it essentially turns into a tablet with a huge 7.3-inch display.

The Galaxy Fold is designed as a super premium device. It comes with 12GB of RAM and six total cameras: 3 rear-facing, two inside and one front-facing. It’s also very expensive, starting at $1,980. It’ll come in four different colors: Cosmo black, space silver, Martian green and Astro blue. You can order one now and get it by April 26th.

At the company’s Unpacked event, Samsung showed off the Galaxy Fold doing some pretty impressive things. The smartphone’s two displays were able to work together, using what Samsung is calling “app continuity” that lets you switch and drag between screens. You could also search something on the folded smartphone, like in Google Maps, and then unfold it and to see the same map — but bigger — on the tablet screen. Pretty neat.

The Galaxy Fold’s standout feature, however, was 3-app multitasking. When in tablet mode, it allows you to have three viewable apps opened at the same time. You could watch a video on YouTube, check your emails and even research something on Google, all without minimizing or exiting out of a window. It’s unclear how many apps will be optimized for this mode, but Samsung showed off WhatsApp, Microsoft Office, YouTube, Google, Gmail, Netflix and Facebook at the show.

Samsung didn’t dive into too many other details about the Galaxy Fold, and it’s worth noting that they didn’t actually show one off at the Unpacked event; instead, it was shown off by a Samsung rep on a big video screen. The Galaxy Fold looks like an insanely impressive smartphone — and we can’t wait to get our hands on one. But is it $1,980-impressive?

iPhone users probably won’t think so since it’s still an Android smartphone without iMessage. It’s worth noting that Samsung didn’t talk say much about gaming or even video playback on the Galaxy Fold, which makes me believe that this isn’t so much about entertainment as it is about productivity. By the looks of it, it doesn’t look like the most pocketable device, either.

Still, the Galaxy Fold is certainly unique and offers a glimpse into the future of what smartphones could be like. And if they look this, well that’s pretty exciting.
