BOVET Récital 22 Grand Récital

We have the privilege to introduce another stunning horological masterpiece for you to admire. The BOVET Récital 22 Grand Récital is undeniably a luxury-tier time that demands half a million USD cost for its ownership. The level of craftsmanship shown by this watchmaking marvel justifies its undeniably prohibitive price tag. Some might probably argue that the popularity of smartwatches has eclipsed that of traditional wristwatches. However, the market is clearly alive and bustling with new models that come out on a frequent basis.

There are a few luxury watchmakers that have embraced the digital revolution of timekeeping, but purists will always go for the conventional option. So let’s dive in and figure out what makes the Récital 22 Grand Récital so special. Horological connoisseurs should already be aware that it’s the tourbillon that is the star of the show. We meant it literally since its carriage is intricately crafted to represent our solar system’s star.

Meanwhile, the representation of the earth sits just above the aforementioned complication and showcases a hand-painted and engraved map. A unique moon phase indicator mechanism rotates a small sphere that completes its orbit exactly every 29.53 days. These come with a splash of luminescent substance to highlight the components in low light conditions.

The 46mm case is available in red gold or platinum and houses the skeletonized dial that partially covers its movement. Look closely and you can spy small aperture located on the left flank of the tourbillon, which serves to magnify the days of its retrograde perpetual calendar. Finally, the BOVET Récital 22 Grand Récital boasts a 9-day power reserve and will only see 60 pieces in circulation.

Roger Dubuis Excalibur Quatuor Carbon

Modern mechanical timepieces flaunt amazing craftsmanship and impeccable accuracy. As much as we have embraced the digital age, nothing can really replace the beauty and magnificence of the analog motion of watch hands. You probably already know that one of the pinnacles of Haute Horlogerie is the intricate tourbillon. Just having one is responsible for increasing the value of the item. Meanwhile, the Roger Dubuis Excalibur Quatuor Carbon chooses to flaunt a different configuration. Nevertheless, it’s just as mesmerizing as the unique escapement.

Instead of the installing a tourbillon on the wristwatch, expert craftsmen from Roger Dubuis spent seven years of research to come up with a one-of-a-kind design. The assembly sports four sprung balances that are positioned at 45-degree angles. According to the watchmaker, each mechanism works “in tandem for unprecedented accuracy. Equally important, also compensating not just for gravity but also your own movement.”

It runs on the brand’s exceptional manual winding RD101 Quatuor movement with a 40-hour power reserve. The case measures 48mm and bears a stylish combination of red accents with everything else mostly in black. Upon closer inspection, you’ll notice that the mechanism does not emit the familiar tick, but you can make out a mechanical whirring that’s oddly satisfying to listen to. Ownership of the Roger Dubuis Excalibur Quatuor Carbon might be a challenge with only 8 pieces in line for production.
