It’s not generally well-known that Mido is actually one of the top 5 brands producing the most COSC-certified watches, but there you have it — the 100-year-old company consistently delivers highly accurate watches with chronometer movements at affordable prices in a variety of styles (we’re also fans of their Multifort line in general). The new Multifort Chronometer features the Mido Caliber 80 Si, an ETA C07.821-based automatic with silicon balance spring, 80-hour power reserve and COSC certification that beats at 4 Hz.
The watches, available in various case finishes and strap combinations, all feature 42mm cases that are 11.8 tall with display case backs, AR-coated sapphire crystals, and day-date displays. Possible dial colors are silver, grey and black (the black-dial variant includes a black PVD case).
Because ETA is a wholly-owned subsidiary of the Swatch Group (of which Mido is also a part), you don’t have to shell out a month’s rent for the Multifort Chronometer: the dual-tone model is available for $1,440, the black PVD version is $1,380 and the steel model on black strap with silver dial is $1,250, or $1,290 on a steel bracelet.
