Samsung just announced the Galaxy Tab S5e ($399+), a tablet that’s a thinner, lighter and cheaper version of the company’s flagship Galaxy Tab S4 ($649+). The interesting thing about the Galaxy Tab S5e is that, for roughly half the price, you’d think it’d be a far worse tablet than the Tab S4. But it’s not.

The Tab S5e and the Tab S4 have the same sized 10.5-inch display, but Tab S5e has a slightly better screen-to-body ratio — meaning thinner bezels. They have the same camera systems (same photo and video skills) and the same AKG-tuned speakers. And thanks to Samsung DeX software, which is baked into Samsung’s Galaxy Note 9 and Galaxy Tab S4, you can plug the Tab S5e into an external monitor and use it more like a desktop computer (splitting apps across two screens).

There is a big difference between the Tab S5e and the Tab S4 — and that’s processing power. The Tab S5e isn’t as powerful, with its octa-core Snapdragon 670 processor, and it’s designed as more of an entertainment device, to answer emails or stream shows on Netflix. The Tab S4, on the other hand, has an octa-core Snapdragon 835 and is more optimized for running more creative apps and playing mobile games.

The Tab S5e will be available starting in Q2 of this year.
