Verdict: There are very few distinctly ’90s watches, but the Seamaster 300M — first launched in 1993 — is one of them. Twenty-five years later, Omega is overhauling the Seamaster 300M lineup, which is now comprised of 14 different models: 6 in stainless steel, and eight in steel and gold two-tone. A titanium limited edition is also available. The basic look of the watch hasn’t been changed, so that ’90s-esque charm is still intact (this is a good thing), but a number of improvements have been made.

The most immediate visual change is the dial, which is now made from ceramic. And while the new dial has a wave pattern like the last iteration, the new design features wider waves that are laser-engraved, further spaced out, and have a decidedly more modern look. The watch’s bezel is now made from ceramic, too, and features a countdown scale made from either “Ceragold” or white enamel. The case has also been bumped up in size, from 41mm to 42mm, and now houses Omega’s 8800 Master Chronometer automatic movement.

Who It’s For: The Omega Seamaster has always been a great, affordable alternative to the Rolex Submariner, and it will remain an appealing option for those looking at luxury dive watches. The association with the ’90s Bond films also helped fuel enthusiasm for the original Seamaster 300M, so if you’re a big 007 fan — especially the campy Pierce Brosnan flicks — this new version should still tug at your heartstrings.
