The rainy season isn’t upon us just yet, but it’s coming. Now is the time to think about your rain jacket, not after all the snowflakes transform into globs of H2O. It’s easy to revive a rain jacket that isn’t as waterproof as it once was (read our guide on how to do that here), but if the interior lining is peeling or bubbling and separating from the shell, then it’s time to look for a new one. Thankfully, many of the best are currently on sale as brands and retailers work to offload their wares from past years. Below are four of the best discounted rain jackets we found.

Marmot Eclipse Jacket

The Eclipse is a well-rounded rain jacket that’s built for the outdoors. It uses Marmot’s EVODry waterproofing, which the brand claims will never deteriorate or need reapplication. The Eclipse has two oversized hand pockets that are high enough to go unimpeded while wearing a backpack waist belt, and their mesh interiors double as front-facing heat vents when open (there are also two zippered underarm vents).

Patagonia Stretch Rainshadow Jacket

Patagonia constructed the Rainshadow with its proprietary H2No 2.5-layer waterproofing and 30-denier ripstop nylon. It’s lightweight, stretchy, and a formidable competitor to Patagonia’s well-known Torrentshell rain jacket.

Mountain Hardwear Stretch Ozonic Jacket

Mountain Hardwear employed its proprietary Dry.Q Active fabric in the Stretch Ozonic Jacket, which it initially designed for aerobic activities like running. That, along with lots of mesh-backed pockets that double as vents, make the Stretch Ozonic ideal for hiking and everyday wear.

The North Face Allproof Stretch Jacket

The Allproof Stretch is the stretchiest rain jacket we’ve tested yet — it’s as pliable as a latex balloon. It’s slightly less breathable than some of the other rain jackets here, but is equipped with underarm vents to help shed heat, and is as waterproof as they come.
