Polar Ignite Makes Fitness Tracking Simple

The smartwatch space has been rather stale in several years past, with only Apple seemingly taking the reins. But a new challenger would very much like to change the way things are. Enter the Polar Ignite fitness watch.

Just announced, Polar’s new tracker is a mid-range GPS sports watch that bundles some of the technology from its Vantage lines with improvements in sleep tracking, overnight recovery insights, and more.

The new Polar Ignite is the watchmaker’s thinnest and lightest entry yet, which is sure to please customers who don’t want their wrist watches too bulky. On a single charge, the watch lasts up to five days, which is neither impressive nor too atrocious. It’s the sweet spot, and for $229 you get your money’s worth.

New features include Sleep Plus Stages, Nightly Recharge, FitSpark, and Serene. It also lets you track data in more than 100 sports. It comes with a so-called Precision Prime advanced optical heart rate monitoring technology. With three sensor types, this watch should provide you with super accurate and reliable heart data.

We’re not sure if this is really going to hold a candle to the Apple Watch, marketing-wise. It’s certainly brimming with heaps of functionality, but Apple’s strength lies in its ability to market luxury, ease of use, and its signature “it just works” ethos.

The Polar Ignite is available now in white, yellow, and black band choices. Additional bands, if you want to get them, cost $25 apiece. If you don’t have an Apple Watch yet or aren’t really a fan of Apple’s approach to fitness, this is worth considering.

BUYING GUIDE & FAQ’S

What to look for in a bike lock?

If you are looking for a high-quality bike lock which is unbreakable, there are a few features you need to keep in mind. You will need to decide how much money you want to spend, what kind of lock you need, what size lock is appropriate for your bike and whether you want to invest in a smart lock or not.

The best bicycle locks in the market are U locks and chain locks. Both locks are very secure as they are made from uncuttable metal and are simple to use. Bear in mind that cable locks can be cut with bolt cutters using brute force, so it is best to avoid them.

How to choose a bike lock?

The strongest bike locks are made from steel or titanium which cannot be cut easily. It is fairly easy for bike thieves to use bolt cutters or hacksaws to break a bike lock. But locks made from exotic materials like titanium or hardened steel are impervious to bolt cutter and hacksaw attempts.

The only way a thief can get through a titanium lock is by using an angle grinder, but they are noisy and cause sparks, so thieves don’t use them out in the open.

What is the best way to lock your bike?

No lock can completely prevent determined thieves from stealing your bike especially if they have the right tools but that doesn’t mean you need to make it easy for them. The first step is to choose the best lock for your bike and the second is to lock it properly. Believe it or not, a big population of bicycle riders is unaware of the right way to lock their bikes.

Always choose a busy street with lots of people and CCTV cameras around because it makes thieves nervous. They would prefer to unlock a bike that is hidden so that they can take their time. Make sure to secure your bike with an immovable object such as lamp posts or street light poles. Check that the bike cannot be lifted over the top and the objected (pole) cannot be unscrewed or dismantled easily. Avoid securing your bicycle against a tree or wooden post as they can be cut down.

Keep the lock away from the ground as thieves can easily hammer it down and take your bike. As a general rule always goes for the smallest size when buying a U lock; it gives thieves less room to pry it open with a crowbar.

Finally, the right way to lock your bike is to use a mini U lock that goes through the back wheel and secures the bike to something solid.

What are the best bike lock brands?

Although there are many bike lock brands on the market such as Hiplok, Master lock, Abus, Sigtuna, etc. but almost all these locks can be defeated in less than a minute except for Kryptonite. It provides maximum security for your bicycle and will only be beaten by a power tool which will be very noisy. It is an affordable option for bicycle riders providing them peace of mind while they are out and about.

We will review the best 29 bike locks available on the market, so you can figure out which one works for you. You can also check out reviews for each bike lock on Amazon before you decide to buy one.

Omega Speedmaster Moonwatch 321

The Omega Speedmaster Moonwatch 321 is back, everyone. In celebration of the 50th anniversary of the first moon landing, Omega reintroduces the caliber 321 movement. Though this time it’s housed in the Speedmaster Moonwatch 321 Platinum.

Omega, the Swiss luxury timepiece brand, made the announcement nearly parallel the time when the first moonwalk happened 50 years ago. Though it was Neil Armstrong who first trailed the lunar surface, it was Buzz Aldrin, accompanying Armstrong in his stroll, wore the Speedmaster Professional during the iconic moment. People called the timepiece the “Moonwatch” ever since.

The watch is perhaps most famous for its intricate design. The original caliber 321 served as the first-ever movement used in the Omega Speedmaster in 1957. It also appeared in the Speedmaster ST 105.003, which astronaut Ed White wore during the first American spacewalk.

The caliber 321 chronograph powered the Moonwatch until 1968, when Omega swapped it out for the caliber 861. On the new watch, you can see the reinstated reconstructed caliber 321 through the back. The Speedmaster Moonwatch 321 Platinum boasts a 42mm brushed and polished case made from a special platinum alloy that uses gold. The case draws inspiration from the asymmetrical fourth-generation Speedmaster case.

It comes with a black leather strap and a platinum buckle, to boot. You’ll also find a black ceramic bezel here, complete with the Speedmaster’s tachymeter scale in white enamel. Other features include a step dial made from deep black onyx, and indexes and hands made from 18-karat white gold. More info when you hit the link below.

New Balance 996 Collabs

New Balance enlisted the help of several Japanese labels and together they came up with some pretty rad designs. Most notable of all for us is this New Balance 996 kicks from nonnative. For its 996 Collaboration Project, nonnative took a simple approach, reducing the kicks to their bare essentials.

The focus is on materials, not so much the branding. Which is why the shoes swap out the large “N” logo typically found on the 996 in favor of a smaller, subtler “NB” logo. This is a radical choice, but a sublime and very calculated one. The change seems small, sure, but it takes a lot away, including the cruft endemic to New Balance shoes.

There’s also a hairy suede, something you don’t see everyday from a pair of New Balance kicks. The brand added a yellowed sole on top of the suede to make it look like a used sneaker from the ‘80s. We’re not entirely we’re too pleased with this design choice, but it’s something. This variant also has a thicker tongue plus elastic straps, which means you can wear it comfortably even without lacing up.

Other brands New Balance collaborated with for this project include United Arrows, N.Hoolywood, Beams+, atmos, and mita. They’re an oddball bunch — some drew inspiration from minimalist design choices while others took more risks. Still, any person will surely find something from this collection to like. But for us, nonnative’s simple, nondescript look reigns supreme. Hit the link below for more information.

Throwflame TF-19 WASP Flamethrower Attachment For Drones

It’s going to be a hard decision to make when given the choice between playing with a drone or a flamethrower. The former is obviously safe and packs a lot of fun until the battery runs out. However, the latter is undeniably awesome as long as you understand and follow the rules for safety. Therefore, imagine being able to mess around with both at the same time. Now, you can make your dreams come true with the Throwflame TF-19 WASP. This unique accessory turns your drone into a fire-breathing monster.

That’s right, once you have this on your remote control flying machine, there’s no going back. As long as you stick to the guidelines, there’s a lot that you can do with it. Before getting one, it might be a good idea to check with your local legislation first.

Nevertheless, despite its capability of lighting stuff up on fire, it is reportedly legal to own one. It’s somehow ironic that the manufacturer is calling it the TF-19 WASP. That’s because we’re betting a lot of people will have a field day using it to take down nests of these aggressive insects.

On the other hand, before anything else, it needs to be compatible with the drone. The manual suggests that as long as your gear can carry a payload of at least five pounds, it should be good to go. In order to keep the Throwflame TF-19 WASP as lightweight as possible, most of its parts use carbon fiber. Boasting a one-gallon fuel capacity, users will have about 100 seconds worth of firepower at their disposal. Additionally, the flames coming out of the nozzle can reach up to 25 feet.

Cold Steel American Lawman S35VN

This one’s trending lately, and it’s not hard to see why. The Cold Steel American Lawman S35VN is an extremely robust knives. But that’s not especially unique considering knives Cold Steel makes are always extremely robust. What makes this noteworthy is its steel, which is apparently one of the best in the business.

The American Lawman S35VN features a 3.5-inch high-quality steel, fully drop point in shape. That means it’s a facile option for any cutting task, in the kitchen or elsewhere. Apart from its topnotch steel, the blade comes coated in diamond-like material for added endurance. As a result, it’s also corrosion resistant. Again, though, that’s not really special considering Cold Steel is a master at excellent blades.

Another highlight is the Tri-Ad lock, which the company says it has put through a hostile and rigorous torture test to ensure optimum safety. You can fold the knife when not in use, and it features expertly designed G-10 handles. That means it’s got excellent grip during both grip and retrieval. It’s also got a reversible clip.

In our opinion, this is the perfect Everyday Carry option if you’re in the middle of cobbling together a starting kit. It’s by no means the best choice, to be sure. But for what it’s for and what it does, you can’t go wrong with the American Lawman S35VN. This is a high-performance blade that’s no-fuss, no-nonsense, and ready as soon as you are. Sony WF-1000XM3

Can Sony topple the reign of AirPods? We can’t answer that. One thing we do know, however, is that its new WF-1000XM3 wireless earbuds are on par, if not better, than Apple’s ultra-popular option.

Especially in Audio, Sony is a formidable name. No surprise, then, that the company is vying to eclipse Apple’s tight grip of the first place and ascend to the throne as the king of wireless earbuds. Of course, that’s not easy talk. Not only do you have to excel in the sound quality department (which Sony has and, better to put, does), it also has to cobble up a marketing campaign to the level of Apple’s. That’s much harder — the Apple brand has become, by sheer cultural osmosis and consistently great, if decent products, synonymous with undeniable reliance.

Sony has all that to reckon with, but we won’t get into that. The headphones themselves, however, are great, at least on paper. They’re noise-canceling ones, which the AirPods aren’t. They also feature a 0.24-inch driver unit that delivers crisp audio. Plus, they come equipped with DSEE HX to upscale compressed music files, resulting in better audio in theory, though we’ll have to test if the gains are noticeable.

With a battery life enough for you to squeeze six hours of playback on a single charge, the Sony WF-1000XM3 is a modestly designed wireless option for those who care most about sound quality than other gimmicks. And yes, they do come with a charging case, which packs three full charges. They’re a tad bit more expensive than the AirPods, though, at $230. But that’s the price you have to pay for good sound.

Wearbuds Charger

Apple’s AirPods come in their own charging case, but who has space, especially if you’re a man, for extra baggage? Granted, it’s just the size of your floss container at home, but what if you could wear in instead? Enter the Wearbuds Charger.

Wearbuds is a wearable charger that wraps snugly around your wrist. They also come with a pair of earbuds, which have the same feature you’d find on most other options. They’re powered by Bluetooth 5.0, for starters, instantly making them compatible with a host of Bluetooth 5.0-exclusive functions. They also come equipped with a Qualcomm audio chip, graphene-augmented drivers, and water resistance.

The Wearbuds wristband also doubles as a fitness tracker so it’s not just dead weight on your precious arm. The buds click flush inside the outer frame of the band’s watch face. To remove them, you have to press your thumb and forefinger against the buds to pop them out. Of course, this design is already rife with potential mishaps, but it’s a nice idea for what it’s worth.

The Wearbuds also contains built-in sensors and is compatible with iOS and Android app pairing. We’re sure many people would want something like this, as it negates the need to carry another physically accessory in which to store a pair of earbuds. No need to chuck a charging case inside the labyrinthine void that is your backpack. Just strap it on your wrist and forget it’s there at all. More info by hitting the link below.

Fitbit Flyer Bluetooth Earphones

Years of polishing its skills on crafting fitness trackers, Fitbit is finally making a move to join the wireless audio market. Although this comes as a big surprise for a lot of its consumers, feedback is mostly positive. It’s important for companies to branch out elsewhere eventually, and the direction it’s taking appears to be on the right track. It’s high time for it to shake up the wearable tech segment with something totally different. The Fitbit Flyer is the brand’s first venture into the world of Bluetooth headphones.

Among fitness trackers, Fitbit quickly comes to mind for a lot of people. On the other hand, this is the first time the brand is investing in something other than activity trackers. Nonetheless, longtime users of its products will be glad to finally own a pair of wireless earphones to match their wearable. Let’s begin by pointing out that this is more of a traditional design. You have two earbuds with a wire connecting both ends. This could be a deal-breaker for those who are after a true-wireless experience but does not affect performance.

In order to match your active lifestyle, the Fitbit Flyer is resistant to all types of moisture that come with the territory. Moreover, the package includes several ear tips and accessories that you can combine together for a secure fit. Therefore, you can be sure that it will survive even the most grueling workouts in your menu. Sound quality is likewise top-notch with the right blend of bass, dynamic range, and distinct clarity. A full battery lasts up 6 hours, while the quick charge feature gives you an hour of juice after a 15-minute charge.

Undone Basecamp Standard Watch

Summer is almost over, but that’s never an excuse not to at least consider the Undone Basecamp Standard Watch, a timepiece that’s perfect whatever activity you have planned under this scorching heat.

It’s tough, first of all. This adventure-ready watch features a 316L stainless steel case, making it one of the most robust options out there. If you prefer brute over flair, this is right up your alley. Even so, it’s astonishingly lightweight on your wrist, feeling as though it’s barely there as you go about your workaday routine.

The Undone Basecamp Standard uses a Seiko automatic movement for optimum timekeeping. It also comes with a long-lasting energy reserve of more than 40 hours. It’s got a dial design that sets it apart from most conventional options out there. It’s got this utilitarian strap that, sure, oozes “dad style,” but it’s pretty nifty if you’re not much into fancy schmancy straps.

It comes in either black or gray. We wish Undone could have been more adventure with its color offerings. But we’re not complaining here. These are fine, if a little stale. But black or gray should go great with most, if not everything, in your wardrobe. That makes this watch a real hassle-free accessory for casual wear, street wear, and dare we say even fancy wear. It won’t be your daily driver, but it certainly can if you wish. It’s simple, no-frills, and stylish but only subtly. What more can you ask for? Hit the link below to buy.

Mokacam Alpha 3 4K Action Camera

Among action cameras, GoPro is rightfully enjoying its seat way on top of the competition. However, it must continue to innovate if it wants to hold on to the throne. Take a look at Tesla. Right now, it’s still the king among electric vehicles, but other carmakers are really stepping it up. Take the Lightyear One, for example, its an EV with solar panels on the roof and hood. Now its GoPro’s turn to shake in its boots because the Mokacam Alpha 3 looks like its out for blood.

For a while now, the only brand that comes close as an alternative for users who don’t want a GoPro is DJI. It’s a Chinese tech company that specializes in pro-tier aerial drones but is making big waves in the action camera scene. Similar to the above-mentioned solar power-infused machine, the Mokacam is packing features that give it an edge.

Looking at the specs, it is equipped with a 1.2 GHz Ambarella H22 quad-core processor. This allows the Mokacam Alpha 3 to capture videos and photos with HDR. Moreover, its electronic stabilization system promises shake-free videos even with HDR mode active. This allows you to take buttery-smooth video in 4K UHD quality at 60 frames per second.

You’re also getting exceptional low-light performance, a cool time-lapse mode, and the list goes on. One particular feature that the manufacturer is particularly proud of is a screen that you can flip up to 180 degrees. GoPro and DJI should seriously come up with fancy new gimmicks or else Mokacam will gladly take the crown.

GSI Outdoors Pinnacle Pro Camp Stove

When you’re out camping, the best approach would be to bring stuff that does not take up a lot of space. We’re here to help our readers discover the latest stuff that can help out and we found one for the outdoor chef. Traditionally, all the cooking is done using the campfire, but the uneven heat can give you undesirable results.

Camp stoves are an ideal alternative, but it’s difficult to find the right balance of portability and functionality. Well, that’s about to change because the GSI Outdoors Pinnacle Pro Camp Stove is coming our way.

For the sake of portability, most camp stoves normally utilitarian and feature just one burner. Yet, the Pinnacle Pro manages to sport two and can still collapse into something that measures 1.25-inch thick. This makes it the ultimate camping equipment for those who want to cook like a chef outdoors.

Being able to prepare two dishes simultaneously can greatly enhance meal preparation if there’s a lot of mouths to feed. Thus, it’s awesome to have when you’re with a big group. Moreover, it touts a clever mechanical system that makes it easy to set up and store. A pair of retractable legs keeps the cooking surface at the right height.

Meanwhile, the two 11,000 BTU burners with piezo lighters will handle whatever food is on the menu. As much as we want to have the GSI Outdoors Pinnacle Pro Camp Stove right now, we have to wait until 2020. Hence, we’ll have to make do with using regular models for the meantime.

Omega Speedmaster Met Edition

Omega has officially reissued its Speedmaster, dubbed the Omega Speedmaster Met Edition, in commemoration of the iconic Apollo 11 moon landing. In cooperation with the Metropolitan Museum of Art, Omega is set to release the watch. And after that, launch an exhibit called Apollo’s Muse: The Moon in the Age of Photography.

The “First Omega in Space” timepiece draws from the original Omega Speedmaster astronaut Wally Schirra wore during the 1962 Mercury Sigma 7 mission, as well as the Met. This variant bears a 39.77mm stainless steel case. It also has a black varnished dial, black anodized aluminum bezel, and a red and white NATO strap. That’s not only a chic color combo, by the way. It’s also a nod to the museum’s signature hues.

The watch features the Omega caliber 1861. That’s a descendant of the movement so robust NASA relied on it. The folks who headed toward the moon were on time’s side. Flip it over and you’ll find the Met’s logo etched on the case back, as is Omega’s Seahorse badge. The watch comes in a presentation box with an additional leather strap. It’s a massive splurge for $5,200, though. But if you’re keen on wearing something that not only is oozing with style but is also a resplendent historical document in and of itself, this is a must-have.

Timex Referee Watch

Here’s another instant classic collaboration. Nigel Cabourn has partnered with Timex to create this 1950s-style Timex Referee Watch. And yes, it comes with half-time readings.

British menswear designer Cabourn sought inspiration from the golden era of British football in the ‘50s, as mentioned. In that era, football teams and their players were considered heroes, especially for the designer. Here, in his second collaboration with the iconic timepiece maker, he took references from referee watches used at the time.

The watch boasts a football function, as three-quarters of the dial is color-blocked in red, signifying 45 minutes. That is half of a match’s playing time, just in case you have zero clue about how the game works. Retro elements are prominent at the top-center inside the dial, sporting a cream hue. Bold numbers abound the dial of the Timex Referee Watch, which consists of hours and minutes.

The case is a MK1 40mm stainless steel shell with a domed acrylic crystal face. Turn it over and you’ll find etched co-branding. The watch comes with an interchangeable strap. You can get the classic football-themed one or the plain black S.B. Foot Tanning Co. leather strap. It’s a humble design, to be sure, but replete with enough zing to catch anyone’s attention. Especially football fans.

Each Timex Referee Watch purchase comes in an Army mending kit package, which is true also of Cabourn’s first Timex project. It costs £139 GBP, around $176 when roughly converted. You can get it from END.Clothing, Nigel Cabourn Army Gym London in Covent Garden, and select online merchants.
