Samsung’s Huge, $10,000 4K TV Is Over $7,000 Off Right Now

<!–Samsung’s Huge, $10,000 4K TV Is Over $7,000 Off Right Now • Gear Patrol<!– –><!– –>

It’s Simply Gorgeous

When Samsung released the Q9F QLED back in 2018, TechRadar called it “the only TV you’ll ever need in your life.” It’s got a 4K HDR picture boasting incredible brightness and contrast, and its high refresh rate is ideal for sports and playing video games. At launch, however, it was unimaginably expensive for most people. But less than two years later, B&H is selling that same TV for just $2,799 — which is $7,300 off what it used to go for.

Of course, it’s 2020 now, and there is a multitude of excellent, newer big-screen 4K TVs to choose from. If you’re in the market for the best possible picture quality, an OLED TV is still the way to go; the 75-inch LG C9 ($4,300) is a great option. If you’re looking for a great 75-inch option and you’re on a budget, Vizio’s 8-Series ($1,800) is probably the best deal you’re going to find right now.

The Best Smart Thermostat Is Cheaper (and Smarter) Than Ever

<!–The Best Smart Thermostat Is Cheaper (and Smarter) Than Ever • Gear Patrol<!– –><!– –>

Nest Learning Thermostat

Nest’s top-of-the-line smart thermostat, the Nest Learning Thermostat (3rd Generation), is on sale right now for $199. That’s $50 cheaper than what it normally goes for. It’s a great and elegant way to help make your home more energy-efficient. Plus, it’s compatible with all major smart home ecosystems, including Alexa, Google Assistant and Apple HomeKit, so it’s an excellent option for most people.

Also, Nest just sweetened the pot for everybody who owns (or wants to own) one of its smart thermostats by making one its best features free. It’s called “Seasonal Savings” and it was previously only available to utility customers that were Nest energy partners — but now it’s available to everybody.

Seasonal Savings allows the smart thermostat to automatically tweak temperature settings based on the time of day, the actual outside temperature and if anybody is actually home, with the end goal of making your home more energy-efficient and thus lowering your energy bill.

Seasonal Savings is expected to roll out to all Nest smart thermostats in the US and Canada later this summer. A notification will appear on your smart thermostat when the update is available.

Finally, Fake Houseplants That Don’t Look Fake

<!–Finally, Fake Houseplants That Don’t Look Fake • Gear Patrol<!– –><!– –>

Faux-liage

The Sill, one of our favorite online houseplant retailers, last year launched a collection of faux plants that look identical to their living, breathing counterparts. The faux plants make it easy for people who can’t (or won’t) regularly tend to their plants, have limited access to natural light or simply don’t have a green thumb to create their own indoor jungle.

Now through July 8, The Sill is offering up to 20 percent off its faux-liage from small plants like the watermelon peperomia to larger ones like the rubber plant. Shop the sale quickly because a few favorites have already sold out.

Leatherman’s Massive Multi-Tool Sale Is Still Happening

<!–Leatherman’s Massive Multi-Tool Sale Is Still Happening • Gear Patrol<!– –><!– –>

It’s Tool Time

From a glance, Leatherman’s Free P2 and P4 multi-tools look pretty much just like its other pliers-centric tools. And in truth, they are, in all the ways that you’d want them to be. But thanks to a rethinking of the engineering process and the savvy inclusion of magnets, the Free tools are leaps better than their predecessors, primarily because you can open and operate every included implement, from pliers to scissors, with a single hand.

Leatherman used the technology invested in the Free P2 and P4 to create more models that won’t look as familiar. There’s the Swiss Army-like T Series and the blade-focused K Series, both awesome multi-tools in their own right. Leatherman unveiled these new tools throughout 2019, but they’re all on sale now, along with pretty much every tool the company makes.

Free P2 by Leatherman $120 $105

Free T4 by Leatherman $60 $50

Free K2X by Leatherman $80 $70

The Most Innovative Product from an Awesome Foam Roller Brand Is on Sale

<!–The Most Innovative Product from an Awesome Foam Roller Brand Is on Sale • Gear Patrol<!– –>

Good Vibes Only

Deep-tissue massages are great and all, but they can also be kinda pricey — not to mention dicey in the COVID-19 era. But for the cost of basically one session, you can buy the equivalent of a deep-tissue massage and even take it along on trips. We’re talking about the TriggerPoint Charge Vibe portable foam roller, which is on sale right now for 38 percent off.

TriggerPoint is already one of our favorite makers of affordable, effective foam rollers, and we’re huge fans of this vibrating version. The Charge Vibe features both high and wide ridges and three vibration speeds, allowing you to hit every muscle just right, increasing circulation to the areas that need it most during post-workout recovery.

The Charge Vibe weighs just a couple of pounds and is no bigger than a small dumbbell. In testing, we found it to be most effective on calves, quads, hamstrings, biceps and forearms. Pick one up today, and relaxation will never be too far away.

The Apple Watch Series 3 Is the Cheapest It’s Ever Been

<!–The Apple Watch Series 3 Is the Cheapest It’s Ever Been • Gear Patrol<!– –>

The Best Entry-Level Smartwatch

Amazon is selling the Apple Watch Series 3 (38mm) for $169, which is $30 cheaper than Apple is currently selling it and $10 cheaper than Amazon has ever sold it. If you’ve been thinking about buying an entry-level Apple Watch (or you know somebody who would like one), now is the best time to buy one.

Obviously, the Series 3 is not Apple’s latest and greatest smartwatch; that title belongs to the Series 5. The Series 5 has a faster processor, larger and always-on display and it comes with a little more health features (like fall detection and a built-in EKG), but the Series 3 is still a very good smartwatch. It runs on the same WatchOS and, frankly, most entry-level smartwatch users will use either Apple Watch (Series 3, Series 4 or Series 5) the same way.
