Love Hulten Evoboxx

The resurgence of retro gaming is now on an all-time high thanks to a bold move by Nintendo. Thanks to the release of the NES Classic Edition, almost every other videogame company is following suit. Now is a great time for those seeking to relive the old-school experiences we’ve had. Some of the most recent ones that popped up include the Commodore 64 Mini and the Turbografx-16 Mini. Meanwhile, another classy entry is heading our way as the Love Hulten Evoboxx makes its way to our nostalgic hearts.

Just like the previous releases from this Swedish industrial designer, the Evoboxx is one classy retro game system. What looks like a simple wooden box completely changes the moment you unlock the metal clasp and flip it open. Similar to its predecessors, this machine is designed to play classic software. This time, it’s a cellular automaton title by the British mathematician John Horton Conway called Game of Life. Unlike most videogames, which require regular inputs from the player, this one just needs a single interaction and the program takes care of the rest.

Other than the unique gameplay, the Love Hulten Evoboxx is a one-of-a-kind masterpiece. Within its hardwood body is a Raspberry Pi 3+ that runs the program with ease. Everything else on the surface is just pure retro goodness. You’ll see a bunch of dial knobs that are straight out of the 1970s, which gives it an alluring charm. There’s also a built-in 8-inch LCD, a single speaker, and a quartz crystal control sphere for navigation.

HBO’s highly-anticipated series is finally drawing to a close. The saga is already on its last season, yet fans still want more. However, the past few episodes are getting mixed reactions from the public. Nevertheless, its obvious that the franchise is still a big hit with spin-offs in the pipeline. To commemorate its lengthy run, Microsoft is offering two custom Game of Thrones Xbox One S units. Two lucky winners will take home these one-off game systems and the bragging rights that come with it.

Just recently, Microsoft also advertised its partnership with Legendary Pictures. It’s giving away four special Xbox One X systems with designs taken from Godzilla: King of the Monsters movie. Each one of these consoles represents the four gigantic beasts: Godzilla, Mothra, Rodan, and Ghidorah. On the other hand, the Game of Thrones units will pay homage to House Targaryen or the Night King. The former bears the Targaryen sigil surrounded by leather dragon scales, while the latter is covered with weathered tin metal.

The Game of Thrones Xbox One S custom units are the new disc-free versions of the game system. It will ship with three pre-installed games: Sea of Thieves, Minecraft, and Forza Horizon 3. Godzilla: King of Monsters Xbox One X Custom Consoles

If you ask us, Sony is clearly ahead of the pack when it comes to limited edition versions of their game systems. Nintendo follows closely thanks to its past offerings but is slowly making headway with the special edition Switch units. Sadly, the last spot belongs to Microsoft with barely any unique offerings and also in terms of units sold. Despite the poor state that the company’s gaming division is currently in, an upcoming collaboration with a film studio. It’s showcasing not one but four Godzilla: King of Monsters Xbox One X Custom Consoles as prizes for a special raffle.

We’re going out to say that these limited edition game systems are unlike any Microsoft has released before. Last year, in partnership with the Make-A-Wish Foundation, the tech firm auctioned off Xbox One X units with one-of-a-kind liveries. These featured designs showcasing various video games, artists, and athletes. In contrast, the new special edition consoles represent each of the colossal monsters in the film.

To qualify, participants should be older than 14 and must reside in regions that Xbox Live supports. What’s cool about it is that there’s no need to purchase anything. All you need to do is follow the official Xbox Twitter account and retweet the original post that showcases the promotion. Don’t forget to also add the hashtag GodzillaXboxSweepstakes. You have until June 7 before the contest closes its doors. Four lucky winners get to take home one of the four Godzilla: King of Monsters Xbox One Custom Consoles
