In a move toward sustainability — and reaching a wider market — Arc’teryx recently launched its Rock Solid Used Gear Program, an opportunity to trade in your old Arc’teryx gear and/or buy semi-used jackets, hoodies, waist packs and more.

Arc’teryx makes some of the highest quality outdoor gear that’s guaranteed (for life) to help you summit a mountain or backpack the AT, but what happens when you want to upgrade to newer stuff from the brand? If you originally bought equipment from Arc’teryx, this buyback program lets you recoup some of the cost by bringing old, lightly used gear into any Arc’teryx brand store or by mailing it in. You’ll get 20 percent of the original retail value back in the form of an Arc’teryx gift card.

And on the flip side, Arc’teryx will clean and repair the goods and then re-sell them at a discounted price — often seriously discounted, as in the case of this lightweight down jacket going for a whopping 52 percent off. Think of it almost like scoring a certified pre-owned Mercedes for much less than it costs fresh off the lot. If you admire Arc’teryx but can’t get over the high price tag, this program may be just the entry point you need.

Oh, one more thing. We checked with the brand and were stoked to pick up the following additional info: “Every Arc’teryx Rock Solid Used Gear purchase is covered by the Arc’teryx Limited Warranty. Purchases may be returned for up to 60 days after the original purchase date, as long as items are in the same condition they arrived in and returned in their original packaging. Once a return is received, a refund will be processed within 5-7 business days.”
