Toughness is part of the G-Shock personality, so the heavy-duty industrial theme of the brand’s newest models suits it well — and like Carhartt jackets or Timberland construction boots, it happens to also translate comfortably into streetwear. The new GA900 has Casio’s familiar tech and all the durability features you’d probably need on an industrial worksite, and a new design gives it an even more serious vibe.

Like other models in the “GA” range, the 900 features a combination of analog hands and digital displays — sometimes called ana-digi.” If you look closely, you’ll notice that the 49.5mm resin (plastic) case is decagonal and also reminiscent of the GA2100’s octagonal bezel, which led to its being nicknamed the “Casioak” in reference to the most famous watch with an eight-sided bezel, the Audemars Piguet Royal Oak.

The industrial theme continues onto the watches’ dials, where each of the buttons is deeply textured for grip. Bands are interchangeable, and two of the models include an additional fabric strap with reflective yellow strips referencing safety markings on work clothing and equipment. Featuring 200m of water resistance and 7-year battery life, the three debut models in the series range in price from $120 to $160 — they’re available for preorder now with shipments expected later in August 2020.
