<!–Breitling Just Brought Back One of Its Best Watches from the 1960s • Gear Patrol<!– –>

If you’re a fan of vintage chronograph watches, you’re no doubt familiar with Breitling’s Top Time. Marketed to younger men who weren’t necessarily bound to spring for the professional Navitimer and Co-Pilot lines, the Top Time was available in several different configurations and was even seen in modified form on the wrist of Sean Connery as agent 007 in Thunderball. Since then, it has become a beloved collector’s watch, often available at a bargain compared to the well known Navitimer pieces from the same area.

Excitedly, Breitling has released a special, limited edition called the…Top Time Limited Edition. Available in a limited run of 2,000 pieces with a white “Zorro” dial — named after the livery of the famous pulp character — the new Top Time featured a 41mm steel case, chronometer-certified Breitling Caliber B23 chronograph movement based on the famed Valjoux 7753, a dual-register chronograph, and a decimal scale, a base-100 scale that subdivides time into 10ths and was previously employed by pilots, engineers and other professionals.

The Top Time Limited Edition, which ships on a brown leather strap, is available for $4,990 from Breilting or from
the Hodinkee Shop.
